Erich Bloch MDI Symposium

The University at Buffalo's (UB) Department of Materials Design and Innovation is a new, forward-leaning and interdisciplinary department, with an advanced paradigm for materials science research and education. MDI harnesses information and data science tools to advance knowledge discovery in materials science and addresses societal needs for significant acceleration of new materials design and discovery, emergent properties and processing strategies. 

The Erich Bloch Symposium is the Department's first large event and is dedicated to the late Erich Bloch, former director of the National Science Foundation who helped endow MDI at UB. The Symposium will provide opportunities for industry and academia to converge and explore grand challenges in engineering through interdisciplinary materials science education and research that push the barriers of conventional thinking. I am pleased that we have confirmed some outstanding keynote speakers and look forward to a unique forum designed to forge new partnerships for all attendees. We hope you can join us!
