The 3rd UK-China Steel Research Forum will be held in conjunction with the 15th Biennial Conference of Chinese Materials Association in the UK on Materials Science and Engineering.

The Chinese Materials Association in the UK (CMA-UK) was founded in 1992. The Materials Science and Engineering Biennial Conference is one of the main activities of CMA-UK. Steel Research Forum is a well-established cycle of conferences about steel research which alternates every 2 years. It follows the 2 previous editions held in Leicester, UK (2010) and Wuhan, China (2012).

The conference aims to provide a platform for scientists, engineers, technologists and industry leaders to discuss and exchange the recent advances in the research of materials science and engineering, in particular on steel research and development in the UK and China. It will also aim to provide a unique and valuable opportunity for academic institutions and industrial companies to develop joint research projects to foster research collaborations between the UK and China.

The conference will be jointly organized by steel researchers from the UK and China, with support from industry leaders, steel research institutions and research funding bodies from the UK and China.

Contributions are welcome from all aspects of materials science and engineering research including but not limited to steel metallurgy, new technology in metallurgical industry, functional and structural Materials, advanced steels for transportation, characterization, advanced manufacturing and processing, design and fabrication of steels, computer simulation of metallurgy processes, modelling of steel structure evolution. Keynote speakers will be invited from leading research institutions and industry leaders in the UK and China.

This conference will be held at the Science and Technology Facilities Council's (STFC's) Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL), the largest national laboratory in UK. RAL hosts UK’s major large scale research facilities for science and technology, such as ISIS, Diamond Light Source, Central Laser Facility and RAL Space.

Selected conference proceedings will be published by Materials Today: Proceedings. Visit the conference website for more information.
