A series of products are now emerging on the market that claim to have self-cleaning surfaces, apparently removing the need for regular washing, scrubbing, and polishing with chemical agents. But consumers should refrain from throwing away all their cloths and detergents just yet. Questions regarding the longevity of such products, the optimal technology, and the most suitable applications have yet to be settled.
