The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) has appointed Dr Dean L Bartles as its next president and CEO. He replaces Ralph Resnick who will assume the newly created position of vice president of strategy.

‘Within the defense manufacturing industry, the NCDMM is a highly respected organization, one known for the innovative work and the results that it has achieved to support the defense supply chain,’ said Dr Bartles.

Recently, he served as the president of the National Tooling and Machining Association, and director of the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of New Hampshire, USA. He has also held managerial positions in the North American Manufacturing Research Institute, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition, and was chairman of the board at the NCDMM.

In other news, 3D printing organization America Makes’ current technology director, John Wilczynski has been appointed acting executive director with NCDMM’s Randy Gilmore, vice president and chief technology officer taking on Wilczynski’s role. Rob Gorham, NCDMM’s executive director at America Makes is stepping down.

‘I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as the acting executive director, ensuring a seamless transition during this time and continuing to execute against the mission and objectives of America Makes,’ said Wilczynski.

As technology director, he helped develop a US additive manufacturing roadmap, an intellectual property management plan and executed a project call process.
