Heat treating specialist Accurate Brazing has reportedly installed a second hot isostatic press (HIP) for thermal processing, following installation of a first press earlier in 2019.

‘Based on overwhelming feedback from the marketplace, we are pleased to be moving forward with our second hot isostatic press from Quintus Technologies,’ said Steven Francis, president of Accurate Brazing.

Accurate Brazing serves the aerospace and power generation industries, and many of its end users use additive manufacturing (AM), according to Francis.

Both QIH 122 M URC presses are equipped with Quintus’s high pressure heat treatment (HPHT) process, which combines HIP and heat treatment in a single process. ‘The Quintus technology allows us to shorten lead times, improve product metallurgy, and eliminate some additional outside operations,’ said Francis. The presses offer a work zone of 26.0 inches (660 mm) in diameter and 68.9 inches (1,750 mm) in height and operate at a maximum temperature of 2,552°F (1,400°C) and a maximum pressure of 30,000 psi (2,070 bar).
