Following the successful first Symposium on Degradable Metals in Biomedical Applications under the umbrella of THERMEC`2011, we are happy to introduce and welcome you to the 4th Symposium on Biodegradable Metals in Maratea, Italy. The symposium is characterized by its academic-conference-style with an openly discursive format, rather than a lecture and question–answer format. This style is completed by panel discussions at the end of each session. These panels will discuss open questions of the session topics, new approaches, background knowledge, and personal views among the presenters, strongly including the participation of the audience.
