Hello and allow me to introduce myself! My name is Mike Weir and I am the new Associate Editor for Materials Today. Working with the Editor Stewart Bland, I will be responsible for the blog, social media and the webinar program. I look forward to embarking on a journey of materials science discovery with you in 2013. This year we plan to make Materials Today bigger and better than ever before with more blog posts, more webinars, more great quality content, and more interaction with you, the readers. Look out for the 2013 Materials Today webinar series where you can watch online presentations for free on cutting-edge innovations in materials science from the best and brightest materials scientists. This year’s series starts in style on Friday 15 February with a webinar on multiple ion beam microscopy for advanced nanofabrication in association with Zeiss. Also, new for 2013 is the Polymers and Soft Materials Channel. This Channel brings together a rich stream of content related to polymeric materials that are specially chosen with the help of the Materials Today editorial board and relevant experts in the field.

As ever you will be able to read the latest digital issue of the Materials Today journal or just browse the website for the features, reviews and other content. Signing up to Materials Today is completely free and will allow you to leave your comments on the blog and make yourself part of the discussion. Those who sign up can also subscribe to issue alerts and our newsletter. To register with Materials Today please click here.

We love hearing from you and we hope you will continue to send us your ideas, comments questions and more via our blog, Twitter (@materialstoday), Facebook and of course via email. So, onward into 2013, and our biggest ever materials science discussion!
