In its trajectory to recognize and publish top-quality research, two awards are being created by JMRT. One of them recognizes a global leader (Senior Career Award) and the other, young researcher within ten years of his/her highest degree ( Early Career Award). The first award was given at the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for Metals, Materials, and Minerals, in São Paulo, Brazil. (June 7, 2022). The second award will be given at a venue to be determined.

Senior Career Award

This award will be given annually to an individual with outstanding accomplishments in materials science and engineering that are globally recognized. The individual will be selected from nominations made by the Board of Editors members. The awardee will give a plenary lecture at the Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for metals, Materials, and Minerals (ABM) and will be invited to write a review article to be published by JMRT, together with his portrait and vita. A stipend for travel will be provided by Elsevier and one for local expenses by ABM. The registration will be waived.

Early Career Award

This award recognizes research in materials science and engineering at an early career stage. The nominee shall be within ten years of the highest degree at the application deadline of September 30, 2021. The nominee has to have at least one article published or accepted for publication in JMRT. The number and quality of publications as well as total citations will be an important guide in selecting the successful candidate. The nomination of candidates shall be made through the JMRT site and should include: CV of nominee; two letters of recommendation; copy of JMRT paper.
