The Materials Today ‘Rising Star Awards’ recognize early career researchers in materials science and engineering who have demonstrated themselves to be exceptionally capable researchers with the potential to become future leaders in the field.

The next Awards will be presented at the Materials Today Conference 2023, taking place in Singapore from 2-5 August 2023. In 2023, the Awards will comprise an honorarium of USD 1000, and the opportunity to author a special review article for the flagship Materials Today journal. This year, the Awards will be presented in the fields of:

  • Biomaterials
  • Energy Conversion & Storage
  • Materials Data Science & AI
  • Quantum Materials

We are now seeking nominations for the 2023 Awards in the fields listed above, for candidates within approximately 10 years of completing their PhD who have demonstrated themselves to be the most exceptionally capable researchers with the potential to become future leaders in the field: as such the criteria to be assessed will include the impact of the research the candidate has conducted and the contributions the candidate has made to the materials community, including but not limited to the candidate’s published research, as judged by the panel.

Self-nominations are required: please submit your nomination by 16th April 2023.
