Gurit reports that the first two first two Galaxy 53 m trimarans have been completed by Latitude Yachts.

Designed by Coste Design & Partners, Galaxy and Galaxy of Happiness were built in a record time of only 2.5 years. Launched in Riga, Latvia, in May 2016, the two trimarans reached their intended top speed of 30 knots.

Built in parallel at the Latitude yard in Riga, the two trimarans were built from Gurit Sprint prepreg material molded in glass and carbon composites and featuring Corecell M foam. Gurit Corecell helps ensure high shear strength and low density, high elongation, high temperature resistance and low resin uptake. The material is suitable for slamming areas was used in the superstructure, hull and multiple decks. For the secondary bonding, Gurit Ampreg 22 and Spabond 340LV were used.

Most of the parts of both trimarans were built in one piece at once, including the 53 m long hull with engine foundations.
