SGL reports that construction of its new lightweight and application center is underway.

The site, based in Meitingen, near Augsburg, Germany, will have specialized plant and machinery be installed this year, and teams set up for digital simulations so that the center can start its activities during the course of the year.

SGL Group says that the center will help its customers improve the use of fibers and materials for composites. In future, it will also be involved in the development of processes and products, as well as prototype and small-lot production.
