Chery’s A3CC sports car.

SABIC displayed the Chery car on its stand at the K 2010 exhibition in Germany.

In addition to the undertray moulded from Stamax long glass fibre reinforced polypropylene (PP), the car makes use of other SABIC materials:

  • front fenders made using Noryl GTX resin (which blends polyamide [PA] and modified polyphenylene ether polymer [PPE] technology);
  • a fuel filler door also moulded from Noryl GTX; and
  • lightweight front and rear energy absorbers made from Xenoy resin (a blend of semi-crystalline polyester [typically polybutylene terephthalate, PBT, or polyethylene terephthalate, PET] and polycarbonate [PC]).

The A3CC’s front bumper, incorporating the energy absorber made with Xenoy resin and the undertray moulded with Stamax glass reinforced thermoplastic LGFPP compound (both of which meet European Union 2003/102/EC Phase II lower leg pedestrian protection requirements and Economic Community of Europe (ECE) and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) impact test requirements for low speed vehicle damageability) is a globally compliant bumper system.

Chery Automobile Company Ltd is a Chinese car manufacturer, founded in 1997.
