By combining high strength composites with plastics such as Delrin, ABS or UHMWPE, all parts are able to withstand the meet and requirements of harsh environmental applications.

Polygon's cylinder assemblies are said to offer significantly improved performance in corrosive environments and can outlast metal competitors. The engineered composite tube is lightweight and has a smooth bore finish which provides superior seal life and lubrication retention capabilities. The tube is also impact resistant, and can sustain the shock of 1 kg dropped from 2 m, in a scenario that would dent a typical metal cylinder rendering it inoperable and non-repairable.
Sizing on these cylinders range from 0.25" to 4" ID bore sizes with larger bore sizing, of up to 20”, available on request.
The cylinder is composed of a tube of engineered composite material that has been specifically designed to meet pressure and  usage requirements. The remainder of the cylinder is made from application dependent non-metallic material. The cylinders are made using advanced composite manufacturing processes and machining techniques. Assembly is done in a semi-clean room environment which prevents contaminants from entering the cylinder.
A glass-filled composite guide rod provides excellent load carrying capabilities and works well when coupled with a Polylube Guide Rod bearing, providing low breakaway forces and further reducing weight in the final assembly. Rod end configurations can be made to customer requirements and attached using composite dowel pins to complete the assembly without metals.
The finished cylinders can withstand working pressures of 100-125 psi, allowing for installations and seal configurations typical to specifications within the pneumatic industry.
