Ottobock, a family-owned company headquartered in Germany, employs more than 6000 people in 49 countries. As a leader in technical orthopaedics, Ottobock has used carbon fibre composites in products such as prosthetic legs for many years (see Ottobock selects Umeco prepregs for running blades.)

Baltic Yachts, located in Ostrobothnia on the west coast of Finland, is an independent company, founded in 1973. It focuses on the production of custom high performance yachts. Baltic employs 175 people and had a turnover of around €30 million in 2012. (See our 2009 feature article Carbon yachts from the Baltic.)

Baltic Yachts will be led by CEO Captain Henry Hawkins and COO Matti Laurila together with an experienced management team.
