Video: According to Lockheed Martin more than 300 C-130Js have been delivered or are on order. See the aircraft in action here.

Under the memorandum of agreement (MOA), Quickstep, an Australian manufacturer of carbon fibre composite components, will deliver the carbon fibre wing flaps at a rate of approximately 24 sets per year to 2018.

We are on track to deliver the first completed assemblies in the next few weeks.

Each shipset includes four carbon composite wing flaps. Each flap contains more than 200 individual parts, including carbon ribs, spars and skins. More than 200 tools are used for the parts’ development and manufacture.

Delivery of the wing flaps is expected to begin in January 2014, at the rate of two sets per month.

Aerospace programmes

The Lockheed Martin C-130J wing flaps programme, announced in March 2012, is one of two significant aerospace contracts awarded to the company. Quickstep is also manufacturing parts for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.

The company is also developing manufacturing technologies to produce high-volume Grade A finished composite components for cars.
