BASF says that its new reinforced polyamide grades are suitable for use in car interiors.

Ultramid B3E2G6 SI BK23353 and Ultramid B3E2G10 SI BK23353 reportedly have lower emission values and improved UV stability, making them suitable for use as functional visible interior parts such as air ventilation lamellas, steering column levers, armrests, cup holders or door handles. 

‘Structural components with plain, matt and textured surfaces can be produced in just one process step,’ said Rainer Xalter, product developer at BASF. 'An additional painting of the component to upgrade the surface is not necessary.’ According to Xalter, visible fiber turbulences can be largely suppressed by the new SI grades. Due to the variable glass fiber reinforcement, parts with medium to very high stiffness can be manufactured.
