The service lifespan of geotextiles used in road construction can be extended with light stabilizers from BASF.

BASF reports that its Chimassorb light stabilizers have been used by Megaplast, a polyethylene products manufacturer in India, to produce nonwoven geotextile used in the construction of national highways.

The additive can help stabilize the production process and extend the service lifespan of the geotextiles, BASF said.

‘Nonwoven geotextiles are high-performance materials used to improve the soil for the foundations of above-ground structures,’ said Hermann Althoff, senior vice president at BASF. ‘They also help protect against weather erosion damage. They therefore yield substantial benefits in civil engineering projects.’
