Biesterfeld Spezialchemie, a German chemicals company, has introduced a new core material.

The BALSASUD Core material from CoreLite is available either as surface-treated or untreated balsa wood with a PC11+ epoxy-based coating to seal the pores in the wood and reduce its ability to absorb resin by up to 75%.

The company says that using BALSASUD Core used as an additional coating offers improved bonding properties during the lamination process. It is suitable for use in the e-mobility sector and can provide increased stability and safety for electrical vehicles. Balsa wood is a naturally fire-resistant material and is hard-wearing and resistant to fatigue, according to Biesterfeld.
