Armacell has developed ArmaFORM PET MultiCore (MC), which is made of 100% post-consumer PET and is also recyclable at the end of its service life, according to the company. The different layers are bonded by means of a thermo-welding process without the use of adhesive, thus ensuring its recyclability.

The company says that the material has improved compression strength and point load static as well as an increased impact performance and point load dynamic. The use of higher density layers allows for improved screw retention without additional reinforcement with an increase of up to 25-30%. Due to a high density upper core layer, ArmaFORM®PET MC helps reduce the amount of resin intake. The lower density core acts as a shock absorber, reducing the stress locally applied to the panel and leading to improved strain failure.

ArmaFORM PET MC grade is designed to replace traditional Plywood-XPS and other multi-ply panels, used in a variety of applications such as load-bearing floor panels in lightweight trucks and trailers, side wall insulation panels in refrigerated trucks, or the body structure in caravans and motorhomes.
