They received the award during the PM2014 World Congress which took place in Orlando, Florida between 18-22 May.

Engquist is a former new business applications manager at Burgess-Norton Mfg Co and a recognised expert in the powder metallurgy industry.  Over his 38 year career at his former company, he was involved with every aspect of the PM part-manufacturing process. A member of APMI for 15 years, Engquist continues to be a strong advocate of PM outreach through education, proctoring several PMT certification exams, and serving as a member of the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy editorial review committee. He has been a speaker at the annual MPIF basic PM short course and PowderMet conferences, a long time member of the MPIF technical board, technical programme committee, and Roadmap strategy group, and a major player in the ongoing activities of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology, where he is a past president.

Fang, a professor at the University of Utah, is a world-renowned expert in the cemented carbides and titanium industries. An APMI member for 23 years, Fang is a technology innovator and leader who has both rich industrial experience and academic rigour, according to APMI. He serves as a member of the International Journal of Powder Metallurgy editorial review committee and has been an organizer of the Journal’s focus issues. He has been a mainstay at the MPIF PowderMet and tungsten conferences, serving on technical programme committees, organizing special interest programmes, and acting as a speaker on numerous topics.  

Professional growth

Established in 1998, the Fellow Award recognizes APMI members for their contributions to the society and level of expertise in the technology of powder metallurgy, practice, or business of the PM industry. Fellows are elected through their professional, technical and scientific achievements, continuing professional growth and development, mentoring/outreach, and contributions to APMI International committees.
