Ferro expects to increase silver production capacity by 30% following facility upgrades which are due to be completed by July 2011.

The company says this expansion follows increasing global demand for electronic grade silver powder and flake with ultra-fine particle size, particularly for solar panels, high-definition displays, membrane touch screens, and semiconductor components. The small particle size enables the printing of fine conductive lines.
"This capacity expansion and upgrade will enable Ferro to meet our customers' increasing demand for electronic grade silver products," said Michael J. Murry, operating vice president of Ferro's electronics, colour and glass materials group.
