A UK-based pyrometallurgical engineering firm has been commissioned by a platinum manufacturer to upgrade its plant in London.

Inprotec will manage the upgrades to Johnson Matthey’s manufacturing plant over the next 12 months, the company said.

As part of the project Inprotec will install a 3.5 m long short rotary furnace for the smelting of precious metals, supplementing the existing furnaces at the site. The company is also carrying out major upgrades to the combustion system that feeds a series of smelting furnaces.
