Diran Apelian, Howmet professor of mechanical engineering at WPI.The panel was commissioned by the US Department of Energy (DOE) industrial technologies programme and led by the minerals, metals & materials society (TMS). It will consist of 21 thought leaders in materials science and engineering who represent academia, industry, and government.
The panel will explore the role that materials science and engineering can play in helping the nation meet its energy and climate challenges, Apelian said.
