The document deals with obligations that arise under the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of CHemicals (REACH) environmental legislation. It is now available in the Guidance section of the ECHA website.

It is aimed at non-experts who would like to understand the legal requirements under REACH regarding chemical safety assessment. It provides an overview of what the assessment is and how it is performed and documented. It also outlines communication needs down the supply chain and the resources required, in terms of time and expertise, to comply with the legal obligations.

In other news, the ECHA is staging its third Stakeholders Day at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre in Finland on 7 December. Up to 500 people can attend and the event can also be followed on the Internet via live web streaming and after the event. Participation is free of charge.
