ASCO Sintering Co reports that full volume production of new sintered components for gear shifting has now begin.

The compound gear, output gear, trigger arm, trigger link and couplings components are to be supplied to a US Tier 1 automotive customer. They are reportedly net shape, custom engineered and produced using a broad spectrum of advanced powder metallurgy solutions and materials ranging from copper infiltrated steel, bearing grade steel, 316 stainless steel and sinter hardened steel.

Initial annual volumes of 200,000 each of the main gear components represent a 20% increase in production demand and require the company to invest in robotic off-loading and automated non-destructive testing.
