During August 2010, iron powder shipments rose 62% to 240,000 short tons and copper and copper-base powder shipments rose 38% to almost 8,000 short tons for the first six months of 2010. 

Lutheran foresaw 2010 North American iron powder shipments topping 355,000 short tons for the full year.
He went on to report that most PM companies remained busy throughout the summer months, with limited plant shutdowns. PM parts makers, especially those serving the automotive market, have had increased customer demands, and business levels to date in the third quarter have remained positive.
