TortisTank is the first product from MFG Tank.

MFG Tank – part of the Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG) group – was established in 2012 to provide high performance GRP tanks for industrial applications.

TortisTank is designed for environments where human and environmental safety is a concern. It is the result of a 2-year effort to produce a saltwater (brine water) tank that addresses the leakage problems (and associated costly repair and clean-up operations) seen with current generation tanks.

MFG reports that improvements in the design, the resins, the glass reinforcement, and the manufacturing process, have yielded a composite tank that holds up in extremely harsh environments for 20 years or more, without fractures or delamination.

Filament winding

MFG Tank uses a filament winding process to manufacture the tanks. Continuous, resin-impregnated fibres are wound on a rotating mandrel in a predetermined pattern, providing maximum control over fibre placement and uniformity of structure.

A proprietary formulation of premium-grade resin and Advantex® E-CR glass are said to result in better longevity compared with traditional tanks.

TortisTanks meet or exceed all pertinent oil and gas industry standards, including API Spec 12P. They are available in a range of sizes and colours.

MFG Tank is headquartered and manufactures its products in Gainesville, Texas, at a facility co-located with MFG Texas. MFG Tank is the first MFG operation to employ the filament winding process.

The company is currently accepting orders and has a number of units installed at customer sites.

Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG), headquartered in Ashtabula, Ohio, has 16 operating entities in the United States and Mexico, supplying products and manufacturing services to numerous industries.
