The Centre for Science at Extreme Conditions (CSEC) at the University of Edinburgh is supporting a multidisciplinary approach to the study of materials at extremes of pressure and temperature, and under high electromagnetic fields. The new center is intended to provide access to state-of-the-art measurement techniques and become a focal point for researchers approaching this emerging field from different directions. CSEC members are fostering a collaborative approach and making use of external facilities (e.g. synchrotron and neutron sources), which, it is hoped, will lead to significant and groundbreaking advances in knowledge.
