The research will consist of five contracts taking two and a half years each to fulfil. One research area will cover efforts to improve cast alloy properties by adding various types of powder. For example, different crystallization mechanisms can increases the durability and corrosion resistance of alloys by 15-20%.
“Today metallurgists have reached that level when it is quite difficult already to continue improving the properties of casting alloys. The ceiling amount of added alloy elements is limited by 46-50. It is almost impossible to manage them if the limit is exceeded,” said Alexander Ilyushchenko, Director General of the Belarus PM association.
