Ying Wang (pictured, University of Manchester), winner of the 2021 CSTE Outstanding Young Researcher Award, will be presented during a commemorative ceremony at the 8th International Conference of Fatigue of Composites (June 23-25) www.gest.unipd.it/ICFC8.

A special 45 minute session will be convened at the virtual event, and will include an Introduction from the Composites Science and Technology (CSTE) Editor in Chief Karl Schulte, and an additional introduction from CSTE Editor and ICFC8 Conference Chair Marino Quaresimin. Professor Wang will then be presented with her award, and introduce her research.

The event will be shown live on youtube (and on this page) on Friday 25th of June at 14.00 (CET). There is no charge to attend, and no registration is required. Attendees of ICFC8 are also invited to attend.

About ICFC8 2021

The 8th edition of the International Conference on Fatigue of Composites (ICFC8) will be held  from the 23rd to the 25th of June, 2021. The event is organised by the Department of Management and Engineering of the University of Padova.

The series of International Conferences on Fatigue of Composites aims to enhance interactions among scientists and engineers both from Academia, Research Institutions and end-use Industries, providing them with a forum for the communications and discussions on the recent exciting accomplishments and future trends in the field of fatigue, damage mechanics and fracture of composite materials.

ICFC8 Conference Aims and Topics

ICFC8 is aimed to enhance interactions among scientists and engineers both from Academia, Research Institutions and end-use Industries, providing them with a forum for the communications and discussions on the recent exciting accomplishments, future trends and directions in the field of fatigue, damage mechanics and fracture of composite materials.

An attractive background programme will be arranged to complement the interesting presentations and discussions.
The main conference topics can be summarised as follows:

  • Experimental characterization of fatigue response of composites materials, structures and assemblies;
  • Damage mechanics and fatigue damage mechanisms: quantitative description of the initiation and evolution process;
  • Damage evolution and property degradation;
  • Effects of process, manufacturing induced defects, environment, temperature, humidity on the fatigue response of composites;
  • Variable amplitude, spectrum loading and cumulative damage modelling;
  • Advanced experimental techniques for damage investigation;
  • Health monitoring and non-destructive methods for fatigue damage detection and their applications;
  • Models and procedures for damage evolution assessment, residual properties and life prediction;
  • Applications and case histories: fatigue and property degradation in complex composite structures.
