New journal Surfaces and Interfaces launched

Elsevier has announced the launch of a new quarterly journal: Surfaces and Interfaces.

Adding to Elsevier’s expanding Physics portfolio, Surfaces and Interfaces will publish research papers in all fields of surface science. The journal focuses on research papers which may not always find the right home on first submission to Elsevier sister journals Applied Surface ScienceSurface & Coatings Technology or Thin Solid Films.

“This new journal will be a very respectful outlet for ‘sound science’ papers in all research areas on surfaces and interfaces. We define sound science papers as papers that describe new and well-executed research, but that do not necessarily provide brand new insights or are merely a description of research results.“ said Editor Dr Chantal Boulmer-Leborgne from the Université d' Orléans, France. “As such, the scope of this journal is well-suited to provide a fast and efficient platform for disseminating scientific results in this wide area of sound research.”

Dr. Carina Arasa, Publisher, Surfaces and Interfaces at Elsevier, “With the launch of this new journal, we are responding to the growing demand from our authors for more choice in publishing outlets in Surface Science. Therefore, by providing a platform with very competitive publication times, and adhering to our strict peer review process, Surfaces and Interfaces responds to the needs of the Surface Science community. We believe that Surfaces and Interfaces will be a valuable addition to the extensive range of existing publishing options we are pleased to offer to the Physics community.”
